Seamless Rolled Rings For Industrial Applications
Hammond & Irving manufactures seamless rolled rings in stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, and nickel-based alloys for a wide range of industrial applications. Using advanced ring rolling and forging processes, we produce near-net shape components that reduce material waste, lower machining costs, and deliver dependable mechanical performance.

What are Seamless Rolled Rings?
Seamless rolled rings are circular forged steel components produced through a process known as ring rolling. The process begins with steel stock in billet, tube, or ingot form, which is forged into a rollable blank – a preform with a center opening similar to a donut shape. Depending on the application, blanks can be produced in a variety of sizes and grades.
To learn more about this forging stage, please visit our Open Die Forgings page.
Once a blank is prepared, it is heated to rolling temperature (typically 2,000 – 2,300 degrees Fahrenheit) and transferred to our Wagner 63/63 radial/axial ring rolling mill. During rolling, controlled pressure expands the ring to its required dimensions while maintaining material integrity and consistency.
Final ring dimensions are defined by:
- OD (Outer Diameter)
- ID (Inner Diameter)
- THK (Thickness or Height)
After rolling, rings are moved into staging for cooling and prepared for heat treatment as required by customer specifications.
Because incoming blanks vary significantly in size and geometry, our ring rolling capabilities allow us to transform a wide range of starting forms into precise seamless rolled rings for demanding industrial applications.
Our forging experience enables us to produce challenging geometries that are difficult to manufacture through conventional methods, including tall sleeves, flat washers and more.

Benefits of Seamless Rolled Rings
Forged rings produced on our Wagner 63/63 radial/axial ring rolling mill provide a cost-effective solution for projects ranging from a single piece to large production quantities.
Benefits of seamless rolled rings include:
- Reduced material waste compared with cut plate manufacturing
- Lower machining costs through near-net shape production
- Efficient production for both short and long runs
- Consistent grain flow and mechanical performance
By producing rings close to their final dimensions, additional machining and processing requirements can often be reduced. We do offer additional services including:
- Cleaning
- Rough machining
- Heat treatment
- Shotblasting
